National Nutrition Month

Making smart food and nutrition choices is a necessary part of everyone's daily life. ? At Eat Right Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics you can also learn how to navigate grocery store aisles, make healthful choices to get nutritious meals to the table, and learn about types of vitamins, nutrients and minerals and when supplements might be needed. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has all the information you are looking for.
UMASS Memorial Health Care has an online library of healthy and nutritious recipes to choose from ranging from dietary considerations such as gluten sensitivities, low carbs, low fat, low sodium, heart healthy and so many others!

Spring Cleaning Edition
Which came first – the clutter or the stress? Whether the clutter is in our minds, or in our environments, the stress we feel when we encounter it results in more stress and less ability to manage the clutter, which often means more… well, you know… clutter & stress, and both are unhealthy. However, if we set one goal, taking consistent small steps to reach that goal every day, we begin to feel more in control. Our Monthly Mission for this spring is to encourage you to tackle that one thing- set that one goal- take those steps, and release the clutter and the stress.
"Identify the habit or change you want to make, then replace it with the opposite. Example: Watching TV at night for two hours. Swap that TV time for stretching or a walk. Brain Injury Awareness

March 1st-March 31st
Brain injury can have a traumatic effect on both survivors and their families. BIA-MA sponsors support groups across the state that provide survivors and their loved ones a forum for sharing information about brain injury as well as a compassionate and understanding peer group and an opportunity to socialize and make new friends with others through recreational activities and outings.

Competition Pool Shutdown

April 22 - May 12
The Competition Pool will be closed from April 22 - May 12 for scheduled maintenance. During this time, multiple contractors will be working simultaneously to install a new HVAC System to improve air quality and repair the damage to the Competition Pool roof and facade that incurred during a previous storm. Additionally, we will also be draining the pool, cleaning, and painting as part of our yearly maintenance so as to not close the pool for a second time during the Summer. We must close for the safety of the workers, staff and our customers.
We appreciate your understanding and value your continued support of the Whitin Community Center. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and have identified and secured other alternative options for your swimming needs.
